Top 5 Places for Fine Dining in Myrtle Beach

Guests at Island Vista Resort don’t have to travel very far to find some of the best fine dining on the Grand Strand. In fact, just go to the elevator and press G.

That’s where you will find the Cypress Room, Island Vista’s on-site restaurant with excellent food to match the oceanfront view. This elegantly decorated restaurant specializes in fresh local seafood and Lowcountry cuisine that will melt in your mouth.

Island Vista guests also can enjoy a great breakfast at the Cypress Room, and when you order your lunch at the poolside bar, the tasty treats come from the same kitchen. But evenings are when the Cypress Room shines with nightly specials and a nice happy hour. However, if you insist on going out for a night of fine dining, there are several top choices within a short drive. With Restaurant Row just to the north and Broadway at the Beach and downtown Myrtle Beach to the south, there are lots of upscale establishments with great menus and venues.

Here are the top five places for fine dining in Myrtle Beach:

21 Main:
Located on the premises of the exclusive North Beach Plantation, the restaurant is also open to outside guests who have recently discovered this hidden gem. Specializing in in-house aged prime beef coupled with fresh local seafood and flown-in lobster for the ultimate surf and turf combination. An extensive wine list and an elegant setting with space for group functions make this the perfect place for special occasions. Barefoot Landing is just across Kings Highway so make it dinner and a show at the House of Blues or Alabama Theatre.

Aspen Grille:
Located just across Kings Highway from Island Vista in the Pine Lakes neighborhood is a pleasant surprise that is tucked away in a row of strip malls. Aspen Grille offers fine dining with a Lowcountry twist, serving creative dishes with an emphasis on local seafood and fresh ingredients. The nightly specials make it hard to even open your menu, and thr atmosphere is more relaxed than the food might indicate. Aspen Grille features a large side bar that is perfect for pre- or post-meal drinks and conversation.

New York Prime:
Island Vista is hundreds of miles away from the famed steak houses of Manhattan, but it’s only about 5 miles from the locally famous New York Prime. Experience the same upscale atmosphere and table-side service you only expect to get in the Big Apple, plus the same in-house aged prime cuts of beef. New York Prime also offers sea bass and lobster if you want to go surf and turf, and the a la carte side items like the huge baked potatoes and platters of grilled onions and mushrooms enhance the meal. There’s a jovial vibe to this upscale eatery; excellent food without pretense.

Sea Captain’s House:
This historic restaurant would be popular even if it didn’t serve the best seafood in town. The converted boarding house, once slated for demolition to make way for a high-rise hotel, has been serving locals and visitors for more than a half century. Standing the test of time and earning international acclaim for its Southern spin on seafood. The oceanfront view is a big part of the experience, with huge pane-glass windows giving every table a glimpse of the Atlantic. But the Lowcountry specialties like the Shrimp and Grits, She Crab Soup and Seafood Platters are what keeps diners coming back for generations.

The Library:
Located in the heart of downtown Myrtle Beach, this unassuming unit in an old strip mall houses one of the most unique dining experiences on the Grand Strand. Tuxedo-clad servers cater to an upscale crowd at this European and Continental cuisine establishment, which features walls and walls of books, hence the title. The classic decor and impeccable service set the mood, but the food is the star. Enjoy traditional European dishes with vintage wines along with the elegant ambiance.
